In the afternoon of September 23, 2016, students of seniors and freshmen who majored in English education gathered to listen to Mr. Zhuo’s lecture. Zhuo Zhangzhong, an alumnus who was a vice principal of the Gutian No.1 middle School, gave a lecture on how to become an excellent head teacher and English teacher.
Before the lecture, Dean Gong expressed his warm welcome to Mr. Zhuo and advised listeners to take notes. Then he introduced Mr. Zhuo’s personal details to all those present. Dean Gong also said, “Today, you are proud of our department; tomorrow, we will be proud of you.” Those inspiring words encouraged all of the students.
This lecture was mainly consisted by two questions. The first question is how to become an excellent head teacher. And the other one is how to become an excellent English teacher. The first question can also be divided into four main aspects. First one is the association about the classes and the head teachers. Second one, the head teachers’ work under the background of the new era. Third one, the security responsibilities of head teachers. Last one, the head teachers’ essay on the daily work. Mr. Zhuo also mentioned, “A head teacher is not only a leader, but also a builder of a class.”
When it came to the second question- how to become an excellent English teacher? Mr. Zhuo explained, “An excellent English teacher should have the professional morality and professional knowledge and should set a good example for all of the students. What’s more, he or she should love every student, and also keep on lifelong learning.” Furthermore, Mr. Zhuo held the view, “An excellent English teacher should pay attention to use the student-oriented teaching model and should have the courage to try some other new teaching models.”
In the end, Mr. Zhuo made a conclusion, “To become an excellent teacher, your altitude depends on your attitude!”
