In the morning of September 29, 2016, students of seniors who majored in English education gathered to listen to Mrs. Huang’s lecture. Huang Qianyin, an alumna who was a vice principal of Jiaocheng No.6 Primary School, gave a lecture on segment teaching of primary school English.
Before the lecture, Dean Gong expressed his warm welcome to Mrs. Huang and advised listeners to take notes. Then he introduced Mrs. Huang’s personal details to all those present. Mrs. Huang began her lecture with humorous remarks. Her opening received immediate applause and hearty laughter from the audience.
The lecture was roughly divided into four parts. In brief, it could be summed up in four words: content, why, what and how.
The first part introduced that why the segment teaching was so crucial. Mrs. Huang described its importance from some main ways, like the role it played in the teaching and researching activities and its extensive applications in the teacher recruitment. And in the second part, Mrs. Huang explained what the segment teaching was. From her words, we knew that its meaning. That is using the excerpts of text content to do the teaching activities. Then Mrs. Huang also passed on her knowledge of segment teaching types and features to us. Finally, on the problems of teaching, Mrs. Huang gave us some salutary suggestions. In other words, she showed us the way of how to make a successful teaching.
In the end of lecture, Mrs. Huang sincerely hoped that all of us will be excellent English teachers in the future.
