On September 23, 2016, The“FLTRP Cup” English Speech Preliminary Contest was held in room AA301 of Ningde Normal University, which was sponsored by the Students’ Association and undertaken by the English Salon of Ningde Normal University. The English speech contest started at 6:30pm and lasted for roughly three hours. Four teachers participated in the English speech contest and worked as judges. In the first round, 10 contestants stood out of 21 by delivering their prepared speeches on the given topic "College education in today’s competitive world: challenges and opportunities for students". They continually entered into rivalry in impromptu speech round to compete for higher rankings.
The English speech contest laid emphasis on oral expression performance as well as on site response ability. Through the fierce contention of preliminary contest, Dan Lin won the first prize with excellent performance, Xiaojing Lu and Chuxi Liu both acquired in the second place, Qing Lin, Qiying Jiang, Xingying Lan ranked the third.
