The two conventions were held from the 20th to 22nd December at Baiyun International Convention Center in Guangzhou by the National Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, Academy of Sciences, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Chinese Overseas Students Association and Guangzhou Municipal Government etc of national weight with a theme of “Gathering Talents, Fulfilling Dreams and Creating the Future” for this year. More than 3000 participants from all over China and the world gathered at the conventions. Nearly 322 large enterprises including some of the world top 500 offered more than 17,000 jobs for both the overseas Chinese scholars and domestic talents. Over 150 enterprises set up their hiring booths on the spot to hunt for and exchange directly with the talents. Many key universities across the nation also were present at the conventions looking eagerly for their needed experts.
Ningde Normal University also attached great importance to the conventions. Mrs. Xu Xiaodan, deputy party secretary, Mr. Lin Qifa, director of the Personnel Bureau, Mr. Chen Yanjun, the bureau clerk and Dean Gong of the Foreign Language Department on behalf of all the departments of the school to attend the conventions in a hope to hire some high-caliber talents. There are 13 departments of the university offering jobs for professors or PHD candidates in various fields like maths, physics, chemistry, Chinese, English, management, physical education, elementary education, engineering, tourism, ethics studies and so on. All the folks here spare no efforts providing better condition to attract more talents. For those who are interested, they are welcome to contact the university in any ways. They can log on the school website and find information about the preferential policies for the related talents. During two days of the conventions, there were some professors and newly graduated PHD candidates showing interest in our university and expressing hope that they wanted to know more about it. What made us excited was that there was one professor who is one of the One-Thousand Talents Program of China saying that he would contact us again for future cooperation. Our leader emphasized that we should try all means to get him joining us one way or another. Besides there are some overseas candidates who major in minor languages like Portuguese and Italian inquiring about the possibilities of finding jobs in our school or at home.
At the end some reflections must be said about the conventions. They are indeed windows for people both in and out of China to know about the latest development of economy and science in the country. There are so many forums on various fields going on. There are so many spectacular achievements in science and technology like AR/VR etc displaying there showing how they can better the world. Some are very eye-catching and trendy. In a word, the conventions are worth attending and are indeed eye-opening.
