From April 21st to 23rd, the 7th National Pragmatic Translation Seminar was held in Ningbo City. It was co-organized by the Editorial Department of Shanghai Translation, Ningbo University Foreign Language Institute, the editorial department of China Translation, the Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press and the National Defense Industry Press. Its purpose is to get more scholars to actively participate in the “One belt,one road” initiative, to make them further play roles in application translation for the "going out" strategy, and to train high-quality applied translators to promote international cultural communication and translation theory innovation.
There were nearly 150 people from home and abroad participating in the seminar. They are experts, scholars, teachers and translation elites. Two of them are from Australia and Norway. Themed on the "Pragmatic translation teaching and theoretical innovation under the ‘One belt,one road’ initiative, 15 famous professors or experts made the keynote speeches, and more than 100 representatives from the National Higher Education Institutions, research institutes, translation circles participated in five groups respectively making speeches and holding discussions according to five topics of “ ‘One belt,one road’ initiative and training of high-quality translators ”, “theoretical research and practical application of pragmatic translation”, “theory and application study of translation norms”, “systematic study of pragmatic translation strategies” and “study on various types of pragmatic translation”.
In order to participate in this seminar, I started to prepare for my paper last year and got ready for it this semester. I finished it on April 10th ,and submitted this paper to the 7th National Pragmatic Translation Seminar. I also made an introduction about the key parts of my paper during the group discussions, and had some exchange with other teachers coming from different universities.And I was bombarded with tons of information and learned different points of views from them. I have been enlightened by the lectures and discussions in this seminar so much that I find it is worth participating indeed.
