Recruiting Foreign Teachers

    Ningde Normal University (NDNU) is pleased to announce English teaching positions within its College of Languages and Cultures. Qualified candidates should be native English speakers who hold a bachelor’s degree and TESOL/TEFL certificate, and are in good health. Candidates with previous teaching experience will be given preferred consideration.

    NDNU offers a bachelor’s degree holder a salary (7500.00RMB) per month, a master’s degree holder a salary (8500.00RMB) per month, and other benefits packages. Each teacher will receive RMB 2000.00 travel allowance for summer and winter holiday vacations and RMB 8000.00 yearly airfare allowance. In addition to summer and winter vacations, the foreign teacher will enjoy all Chinese holidays.

    The university will provide an apartment with two bedrooms, one living room, a kitchen, and a private bathroom. Apartments are furnished with living room furniture, television set, refrigerator, automatic washing machine, telephone, bed, sheets and quilt, as well as other items such as desks, chairs and bookcases. The foreign teacher needs to pay for the use of some utilities, including network, electricity, gas, water, heating, and maintenance.

    Obligations of foreign teachers include 12-14 teaching hours per week. Should students require further instruction, the foreign instructor will offer tutorials by appointment. Foreign Teachers take turns in holding English Corners, which take place once a week. NDNU expects all foreign teachers to respect the freedom of Chinese religious beliefs and do not give religious teaching in class. The main subjects to be taught are Oral English, English Speech and Debate, English Writing, Business English, Survey of English Spoken Countries, etc. The English major students have studied English for about ten years and are well-equipped to study enthusiastically with kind and energetic native English speakers.

    Upon completion of the one-year contract, the university and the foreign teacher can discuss signing a second one-year contract with a salary raise of 200RMB per month. The one-year contract can be renewed on the agreement of both parties.
